PartCraft Browser edition 0.7

PartCraft — parts

Start a part

  1. Pick a plane (click it here or in the history), then Sketch.
  2. Draw with L line, R rectangle, C circle; add dimensions with D and relations from the right panel.
  3. Exit the sketch, then Extrude or Revolve it. Change any number later: the part rebuilds.
  4. Or drop a .partcraft.json or a STEP file here. It opens on this computer; nothing is uploaded.

PartCraft settings

These settings are only for PartCraft, and you can change them only here, in the app.

Menus, keys and mouse

Loading the menu styles…

Turning the view

Left button: drag to turn the part, right or middle drag pans. Middle button: the middle button (the wheel pressed) turns it, Shift + middle or right drag pans, and the left button only picks, so a click never turns the part by accident.

Scrolling

Trackpad: swipe with two fingers to turn the part, hold Shift and swipe to pan, pinch to zoom; in a sketch two fingers pan. Mouse wheel: the wheel zooms at the pointer. "Work it out" treats sideways or fine-grained scrolling as a trackpad.

Sketching

On: a click that snaps to a point or a curve makes it coincident, and nearly level or upright lines become horizontal or vertical. Off: the pointer still snaps, but nothing is tied together until you add relations yourself, so a drag can pull the ends apart.

While a line, rectangle, circle or arc is being drawn, type a number for its size (Tab for the next one) and press Enter: the shape is drawn at that size with a driving dimension for each size you typed.

Corner indicator

The view cube sits at the top right of the 3D view: click a face, edge or corner to look from there, drag it to turn the part. The axis icon is a small X, Y, Z marker at the bottom left. Neither shows while sketching or on the drawing sheet.

Solver threads

Large simulation models solve faster on several threads; small ones stay on one (starting threads costs more than it saves). Automatic uses one thread fewer than the computer has, so the page stays responsive.

3D printer
Bed size (mm)

Check for 3D printing says when a part is larger than this. Leave it empty to skip that check.

Layout

Workspace

Every app that has the workspace you pick opens in it; the others keep their toolbar and panels. Your toolbar style, menus and keys stay as they are.

Work environments. Save your whole setup under a name (the layout, menu style and keys, toolbar, panels and My tools, for every app) and switch between setups. The theme and the language stay as they are.

Lost a toolbar, a menu or a panel?

Puts the toolbar (order, lock and buttons), the panels, the screen mode and the menu style back to how PartCraft starts. Your theme, language, sizes and PartCraft's own settings stay as they are.

Theme

The theme applies to every CadCraft app and the site.

Language

The language applies to every CadCraft app. The app reloads to change it.

Units

Global settings: each app can have its own measurement settings and defaults too.

Switch a unit on to see it in the unit lists. The star marks the default for new drawings, measures and items. These choices are the same in every app in this browser.

Loading the units…

A file keeps its own unit (a drawing's units, a project's feet or meters), and that unit stays in its list even when it is turned off here.

Hardware specs

Sharing your hardware specs allows us to build more efficient engines. The information is aggregated and not associated with your account: the graphics card, processor cores, memory and screen size, the browser and system family, and the app — no files, no name, no address.

First-time tours

Off: no app starts its tour by itself. Each app's own settings can still turn its tour off, or take it again.

Screen

Browsers allow full screen only after a click or key press, so it starts on your first click in the drawing.

Toolbar

Arrange: drag tools within their group, and drag a group by its name.

Right-click the toolbar (or long-press it) for Arrange, Lock and Reset.

Sizes and panels

The bars, toolbars, panels and dialogs of PartCraft, bigger or smaller; the drawing keeps its own zoom. Panel text size works on top of it.

Compact tightens the row heights, panel padding, toolbar buttons and panel text of PartCraft, so more fits on the screen. A touch screen keeps its large targets either way.

You can also drag a panel's inner edge. Double-click the edge to put it back.

Panels

Drag a panel by its name to dock it left, right or at the bottom, or drop it over the drawing to float it. A new window can go on your other screen. Reset layout puts every panel back where it started.
